Since 1917, Teachers’ Retirement System of the City of New York (TRS) has been building better tomorrows for the educators of New York City. TRS serves a community of over 215,000 members with a mission to provide them retirement, disability, and death benefit services.
TRS’ Public Information Office (PIO) is responsible for the agency’s mass communications. Within PIO, the Digital Communications Team is responsible for the content of TRS’ website, social media, and intranet homepage as well as the creation and distribution of email blasts to our member community. TRS is seeking a Website Content Specialist whose duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Utilize the Agency’s Content Management System (Kentico) to add and update pages on the TRS public website, following defined UI framework styles and file-naming conventions. Includes PDFs, e-forms, html pages.
- Conduct scheduled and nonscheduled deployments of content. Deployment activities include reviewing in test/staging environments (for accuracy and expected appearance), reworking as needed, and archiving old content. Occasional evening or weekend deployments may be required.
- Deploy videos for approximately 20 Board meetings per year and maintain archive on TRS’ public website. Tasks include monitoring live streaming of meetings, editing the video files of recorded
meetings using MS Movie Maker or Adobe Premiere Pro; and coordinating upload of videos.
- Deploy and administer website usage surveys, using SurveyMonkey or other tools, and reports/analyzes results.
- Generate and analyze website usage statistics through Dynatrace and/or other tools.
- Create and format email templates using HTML (Adobe Dreamweaver and SendGrid) for email blasts, after creating and testing emails.
- Assist with the maintenance of the TRS Intranet (ConnecTRS), using ThoughtFarmer to deploy content and manage home page.
- Review and approve Intranet content prepared by others.
- Maintain and develop procedure documentation for all processes.
- Draft digital content as needed (emails, error messages, news bulletins, alerts, FAQs, feature articles, etc.)
- Archive old content and emails appropriately.
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
- Proficiency with MS Office - Work experience with graphic design, web design, HTML, and content management systems (Kentico and ThoughtFarmer) - Initiative and self-direction, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to understand complexities of TRS business, ability to be a team player - Strong time management and problem-solving skills, attention to detail. - Recommended: Professional experience in benefits, financial services, or government. - Recommended: Strong business writing skills, including editorial and proofreading.
