The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By “Pursuing Justice with Integrity,” the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Video Unit Supervisor. The Tech Video Unit, located within the Technical Investigation Bureau, is seeking a Video Unit Supervisor to carry out management tasks related to the production of professional media services by the Video Unit.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide overall supervision for all Video Technician duties; act as liaison between the Video Unit and Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) and other law enforcement agencies.
-Supervise casework and schedule Video Unit staff to ensure adequate coverage on a 24/7 basis.
-Respond to crime scenes, hospitals, police precincts, and other pertinent locations to record crime scenes and statements by defendants and witnesses; preserve and maintain recordings for use as evidence in court.
-Use still photography and/or video to document scenes and evidence, office events, and other assignments.
-Serve as a witness in court proceedings concerning recordings and chain of custody.
-Evaluate quality of video recordings, provide feedback and guidance to staff for improvement.
-Secure confidential recordings, maintain logs, track and provide Unit output metrics to upper management.
-Manage and maintain Video Unit recordings, video and computer equipment inventory, and software.
-Retrieve video surveillance from locations throughout the Bronx and other locations as needed; enhance, redact, and edit footage from different systems into compilation videos.
-Perform tasks related to NYPD’s Body Worn Camera (BWC) Program, including downloading, duplicating, editing, and redacting BWC footage.
-Provide technical support for courtroom and office training presentations.

*** Due to the 24/7 nature of the Video Unit, the Supervisor will be required to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and on call shifts.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
QUALIFICATIONS: -Baccalaureate degree AND a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the TV/Video industry preferred. Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred. -A valid New York State driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment. -Ability to carry and set up to 60 pounds of equipment. -Excellent communication, supervisory and management skills -Superior computer skills including familiarity and experience with non-linear editing systems, video playback, disc duplication, file conversion, video enhancement, surveillance footage retrieval, and Microsoft Office. -Willing to work in adverse conditions during off hours strong organizational skills ability to encourage and support teamwork and goodwill. -Ability to handle multiple challenging assignments and propose new, innovative ways to support the Office through the work of the Video Unit. -Experience with Lexis/Westlaw preferred. -Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines. -Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with court staff, agency staff, and external agency staff. -Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook -Discretion and integrity to work on highly confidential investigations. -Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. -Familiarity with general court services and function.
