The New York City Department of Investigation (“DOI”) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country with a mission of combating municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government, City agencies, and City employees, vendors with City contracts, individuals and
entities that receive City funds.
The Training Division is seeking to hire a Training Coordinator who excels in a fast-paced team setting, displays a strong work ethic, and enjoys collaborating on projects. The Training Coordinator will work under the direction of the Assistant Commissioner of Training and Investigations and will assist in the development and implementation of training for all DOI staff. The Training Coordinator must be a self-motivated, pro-active individual who is comfortable with public speaking. The Training Coordinator must have strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically in Excel and Powerpoint.
The responsibilities of the Training Coordinator include but are not limited to:
1. Coordinating logistical details to support training. Tasks include, creating training announcements, creating calendar appointments, creating Zoom appointments, sending follow-up emails, moving appointments, creating attendance sheets, updating instructors on class attendance and changes to training locations/dates/times, updating spreadsheets, setting up training rooms, loading and testing powerpoint presentations, loading and transporting equipment, providing day-of support to instructors, returning equipment to storage locations, and analyzing training evaluations.
2. Proofing and Editing: The Training Coordinator will be asked to review powerpoints for accuracy and spelling mistakes or to assist in the creation of PowerPoint presentations and lecture handouts. The Training Coordinator will also assist in the development of fillable forms in Adobe.
3. Aiding in the maintenance of the training budget. Tasks may include creating IPRs, itemizing deliveries, and updating spreadsheets.
4. Assisting in development and running of programs. In addition to agency-wide training, the Training Division oversees the Agency's New Hire Orientation, Peace Officer Program, and the Anti-Corruption Awareness Program. The Training Coordinator will be expected to assist in developing, maintaining, streamlining and improving these programs.
5. Assisting in development of curriculum and training courses. The Training Coordinator will have the opportunity to expand their role to include instructing in-house courses.
6. Managing working relationships with various City and State agencies and well as Instructors.
7. Participating in field trainings that includes travel outside of the five boroughs when needed.
8. Administrative and clerical functions, as needed, including scanning and saving of documents requiring archiving.
9. Various special projects. The Training Coordinator will be asked to assist with other priority projects as needed by the Executive Staff.
If selected, the candidate will be fingerprinted and undergo a background investigation. In addition, for positions that have a law enforcement and/or investigative function, the candidate's consumer credit history will be reviewed during the background investigation, and as otherwise permitted by NYC Administrative Code 8-107(24)(b)(2)(A).
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in an industrial or governmental agency in the field of investigation, auditing, law enforcement, security, inspections, or in a major operational area of the agency in which the appointment is to be made; or
2.A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
