Your Team:
The Office of Housing Access and Stability (“HAS”) consists of the divisions of Housing Opportunity, Tenant and Owner Resources, Housing Stability, Budget and Program Operations, and Program Policy and Innovation. The mission of the office is to ensure fair, efficient, and transparent access to affordable housing. The Office provides subsidies, placement services, and tools that connect New Yorkers to affordable housing and ensures vulnerable households in subsidized housing have the support they need to be safely housed. Housing Access is committed to expanding housing choices, affirmatively furthering fair housing, and stabilizing the financial health of buildings.
The Division of Budget and Program Operations (BPO) within the Office of Housing Access and Stability provides support services to the Division of Housing Opportunity, Division of Tenant and Owner Resources, the Division of Housing Stability, and the Division of Policy and Program Innovation. BPO assists with monitoring and supporting program budgeting and planning, including both staffing and procurement support. The Division also manage the Housing Quality Enforcement and related inspection functions for the Office. In addition, the BPO team coordinates technology initiatives and analytics across the Office in coordination with key technology stakeholders across the agency, providing support on key systems to internal and external stakeholders.
Your Impact:
The Training Coordinator in the Division of Budget and Program Operations, Staffing and Training Unit will report directly to the Director. At the direction of the Director, the Training Coordinator will assist with all training aspects for HAS staff, including planning, coordinating, and implementing staff training based on the Office’s needs at all levels. The Training Coordinator will train new hires on company policies and procedures and use the best training methods for specific purposes and audiences. The selected candidate will be responsible for consulting with the Assistant Commissioner, Executive Directors, and Directors, to gauge the needs of each individual Division within the Office to devise and coordinate training plans for all staff.
Your Role:
The Training Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of all aspects of the training process for HAS Staff. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of training protocols for HAS staff, coordination of trainings with third party vendors, as well as assisting with various training related projects within HAS as needed.
- Assess training needs for both new and existing employees to create training schedules for all units within HAS.
- Organize, develop, or source training programs to design training plans for employees to meet specific training needs.
- Coordinate both onsite and off-site training opportunities for staff, liaising with internal parties as well as external vendors.
- Track and create reports on outcomes of trainings, maintain training records, and provide feedback to management.
- Gather and evaluate information on previous trainings taken by staff to identify additional training needs
- Recommend training materials and methods, order and maintain in-house training equipment, and work with the budget team to plan future training based on available funds.
- Conduct research on beneficial training programs and consult with management teams to determine current skill needs for staff.
- Work on special assignments as required by the Assistant Commissioner, Director, or other direct supervisors.
- Completes special projects as assigned by Director or other executive managers.
Preferred skills
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Computer knowledge, and ability to operate media equipment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
- Training or teaching experience
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skill
- Strong organizational skills
- Housing experience a plus
- Knowledge of rental subsidies or Section 8 subsidy preferred
- Bilingual a plus
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
