Job Description

Candidate will serve as a TLC Vision Zero Coordinator reporting to the Commissioner’s Office. Responsibilities will include: serve as a TLC liaison with Vision Zero agency partners regarding transportation safety efforts, program management, and implementation; analyze transportation and traffic data and conduct complex research to make recommendations to the Commissioner; represent TLC at meetings and conferences; provide project management for complex projects and upgrade programs; manage relationships with internal and external partners; provide support for partnerships with technology and business communities; identify policy improvement opportunities and develop strategies for continuous improvement efforts; develop and conduct high level presentations; and manage transportation and Vision Zero related programs and projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A master's degree in transportation engineering, mathematics, urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, or related physical and social science fields; or

2. A baccalaureate degree in engineering from an accredited college and one year of full-time satisfactory experience performing technical work on roadway transportation and traffic studies and area-wide traffic programs; or

3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above; or

4. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above; or

5. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above.

SPECIAL NOTE:

In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements above:

To be assigned to Assignment Level II, the candidate must have an additional year of experience as described in the "Qualification Requirements" listed under "2" above.

To be assigned to Assignment Level III, the candidate must have an additional two years of experience as described in the "Qualification Requirements" listed under "2" above.


Preferred Skills

The preferred candidate should possess 3+ years of relevant experience in a government setting excellent analytical and communication skills background in urban planning and policies relative to municipal for-hire transportation industry project management experience strong quantitative and reporting skills experience with social media platforms and internet research ability to establish and articulate goals and project plans ability to work independently and collaboratively exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Access, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint ability to understand transactional data and manipulate data using advanced formulas in Excel strong written and verbal communication skills excellent organization, presentation, and facilitation skills ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines and the ability to interface with management and give senior level presentations.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
