DOT Strategic Communications manages the agency’s web and digital communications, marketing, and DOT Art. It oversees a variety of internal and external communications functions for the agency. The DOT Director of Digital Communications and Public Art will report to the Executive Director of Strategic Communications and will be responsible for overseeing tasks related to web communications and DOT’s Art Unit. Web communications tasks include: (1) Leading the creation of web content strategies for projects, events, and initiatives; (2) Identifying, evaluating, and incorporating emerging web design, tools, modules, and workflows; (3) Reviewing and publishing written and multimedia content for web pages; (4) Approving and publishing web content within the content management system workflow and in accordance with the agency’s web governance policies and standards; (5) Reviewing web content submissions for accessibility and use of plain language prior to publishing; (6) Leading collaborations with DOT’s Information Technology Division, the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, and other internal and external partners on accessibility requirements and compliance; (7) Supporting agency marketing campaigns on an as-needed basis, including reviewing, drafting, and creating communications assets, in coordination with the communications team, the marketing manager, agency project managers, and marketing contractors; (8) Directly manage a full-time Digital Communications Specialist and the Director of the DOT Art Unit. In their role supervising the Director of the DOT Art Unit, the Director of Digital Communications and Public Art will support tasks related to the DOT’s Art Unit including; (1) Overseeing and supporting the Director of DOT Art in the execution of the DOT’s Art Program, a temporary public art program to install commissioned and existing artworks on DOT properties in partnership with local community-based organizations and artists; (2) Senior administrator of the DOT’s Art Program; (3) Review and approve all procurements related to DOT’s Art Program, including utilization of engineering consultants; (4) Approval of the unit’s budget planning and reporting working alongside DOT’s Art Director; (5) Supporting the oversight of DOT’s collaborations with community-based organizations to manage temporary art projects throughout the final project phases.

UNDER THE 55A PROGRAM.***
1. A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a closely related field, and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area. 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity. Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in the areas described in "1" above, including the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience, as described in "1" above.
