In keeping with the Mayor's vision for a safe, equitable, and just City of New York, the Technology Director for Public Safety will be detailed to the Office of Technology and Innovation dedicated to creating a unified public safety ecosystem where all city agencies tasked with safeguarding New York City are working together to preserve peace, enforce the law, and protect the lives and property of those who live, work, and visit communities across the five boroughs. The Office provides support, ensures accountability, and fosters collaboration between the City’s public safety agencies.

The Technology Director will oversee all technology operations, including the evaluation of current software and systems and develop and execute a strategic plan to ensure the effective and efficient execution of directives. The Director will prioritize developing and executing strategies, policies, and procedures to solve problems and streamline efficiency. The Technology Director will be knowledgeable of emerging industry trends and best practices for effective operations and public safety, prepare, recommend, and submit operational and capital budgets to Procurement for review and subsequent recommendation and will perform similar work as required.

The Technology Director will establish policies and procedures for system-wide technological operations, provide education on compliance with policies and procedures, and monitor activities to ensure conformity. Further, providing leadership to constituents on alignment and integration of technologies; consulting and meeting with the user community; preparing evaluations and cost-benefit analyses of alternative technologies; coordinating and evaluating shared technologies amongst departments; making recommendations on

Preferred Skills

-Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field Masters Degree preferred. -At least 7+ years of relevant experience is preferred. -Thorough knowledge and demonstrated, progressive leadership in managing technical and analytical resources. -Knowledge of current leading IT service delivery methodologies. -Ability to develop, implement and direct an IT Risk Management Program, articulate specific and measurable goals and establish accountable service support. -Ability to communicate effectively in both a technical and non-technical manner. -Ability to administer and interpret regulations, policies and procedures firmly, tactfully, and impartially. -Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and handle sensitive issues discretely. -Possesses skills and experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures for information security and infrastructure operations.
