The Infrastructure and Support group provides, manages, and supports the Agency’s technology infrastructure, software, and services. Infrastructure and Support comprises the Service Desk, IT Technical Support, Infrastructure, Production Support, and Telecom Management.
Under supervision, with latitude for independent action and the exercise of independent judgment, the Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining all activities related to IT Operations. The candidate specific duties will include:
- Plan, design, install, configure, and support all components of the Data Protection Services Infrastructure.
- Ensure that Backup and Recovery procedures are current.
- Ensure that Backup Jobs successfully complete by reviewing Daily Backup Reports upon completion.
- Plan, design, install, configured, and support all components of the Monitoring Services Infrastructure.
- Analyze, monitor server resources utilization to ensure optimum server/storage performance by alleviating the bottlenecks.
- Ensure that all changes to the environment adheres to established Change Management policies and procedures.
- Maintain disaster recovery configurations for Wintel infrastructure, perform periodic disaster recovery test and maintain disaster recovery documentation and procedures in support of Wintel and storage architecture.
- Liaise with NYC and NYS agencies Operations Teams to ensure proper service delivery of their services to ACS Operations.
- Work closely with various Teams/Groups such as Telecommunications, Server and Network Operations, Desktop Support, Database Administrators, and other System Administrators to resolve reported issues.
- Evaluate new systems and applications requirements in related to IT Operations requirements.
- Create and maintain Developed Systems Solutions Architecture Diagrams using MS Visio.
- Develop Comprehensive Project Plans for IT Operations Projects.
- Develop timelines and work breakdown structures.
- Evaluate and recommend Technology Solutions to support business needs.
- Setup and monitor system alerts to provide 24x7 support and continue of IT Operations.
- Liaise with vendors to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Follow communications protocol for system failures/outages and file incident reports.
- Escalate major hardware/software problems to Teams’ Director.
- Respond to Service Desk tickets for technical support ensuring timely follow up and resolution.
- Maintain inventory of all Hardware implemented on Datacenter and at every Remote Location IDF.
- Participate and Support in the Deployment of Data Circuits for new and existing Remote Locations.
- Install and Configure Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) and Power Distribution Units (PDU) on Main and Intermediate Distribution Facilities (MDF/IDF).
- Communicate with ACS Electrical Engineers to ensure the Environmental Conditions of all Air Conditioning and Power Units are in operational conditions at all times.
- Occasional lifting of equipment, transport equipment, and work in confined spaces i.e. network closets.
Note, candidates must be available to work after hours and weekends as needed.

Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be filled. In addition, all candidates must have the following:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network and/or wide area network planning, design, configuration, installation, implementation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in "1" or
3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that 30 undergraduate semester credits from an accredited college is equivalent to 6 months of experience. A master’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may be substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in "1" above.
Note: In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements: Incumbents may be required to update existing and/or obtain additional professional industry-standard certification(s) for current and future technical environments(s) in which they may be assigned to work, as determined by the employing agency.
The preferred candidate should possess the following: - 5 years’ proven experience in leading and supporting a 24x7 IT Operation with a primary focus on Hardware Availability. - Certifications are a plus: CompTIA: A+, Server+, Network+, Cloud+, Security+, Datacenter Certified Infrastructure Management (DCIM). - Working experience with the following Products and Technologies: Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, VMWare vSphere, Unix/Linux, Windows 10, Microsoft MFA and other Two Factor Authentication Providers, Browsers, Visio, SharePoint, MS Project, MS Skype/Teams, NetApp, Windows file system and directory management, Active Directory, DNS, WINS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SFTP, Security Diagnostics Tools, McAfee & CrowdStrike Network Security, Centrify PAM, PowerShell scripting, Veeam Availability Suite, SolarWinds Portfolio (NPM, SCM, SAM). - Working experience on setting up Main and Intermediate Distribution Facilities (MDF/IDF) from scratch. - Knowledge of Network Wiring Implementations using Ethernet CAT6. - Knowledge of Power Fundamentals and setting up Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS) and Power Distribution Units (PDU) and integrating these into a Monitoring System strong knowledge of Calculation tools like Microsoft Excel and the creation of reports using Pivot Tables. - Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing and resolving technical (hardware, software) problems. - Strong interpersonal skills, and customer service skills. - Ability to multitask and perform in a high-paced/high-pressure environment. - Ability to work independently or within a group to solve complex problems. - Ability to communicate with different levels of the organization. - Strong team player with service-oriented attitude and customer focus.
