The New York City Administration for Children’s Services of Office of Information Technology (OIT) department has the responsibility to provide high quality, reliable, sustainable technology services and support to meet the needs of the families and children we serve through ACS and its vendor partners and other city agencies.

The New York City Administration for Children’s Services of Office of Information Technology (OIT) Infrastructure and Support department is responsible for providing, managing, and supporting the Agency’s technology infrastructure, software, and services. Infrastructure and Support comprises the Service Desk, IT Technical Support, Infrastructure, Production Support, and Telecom Management.

Under supervision, the Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining all Wintel Physical/Virtual Servers and Storage Infrastructure and providing Tier III support.

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Plan, design, install, configure, secure, maintain, and support all Wintel-based Physical/Virtual Servers and Storage Infrastructure.
- Analyze and monitor server resources utilization to ensure optimum server/storage performance by alleviating the bottlenecks.
- Create, test, implement, and maintain standard image for Servers.
- Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures, archive schedules in coordination with the Data Protection Services Engineers.
- Ensure that all changes to the environment adhere to established Change Management policies and Procedures.
- Maintain disaster recovery configurations and Disaster recovery documentation and procedures in support of the Virtualization Infrastructure.
- Work closely with various Teams/Groups and other System Administrators to resolve reported issues.
- Create and maintain Developed Systems Solutions Architecture Diagrams using MS Visio.
- Develop comprehensive project plans for Wintel/Storage projects.
- Setup and monitor system alerts to provide 24x7 support and high availability.
- Respond to Service Desk tickets for technical support ensuring timely follow up and resolution.
- Prepare system configurations and management/support documentation.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.


Preferred Skills

The preferred candidate should possess the following: - 5 years’ proven experience as a Systems Administrator in Planning, Designing, Configuring, and Managing VMware Virtual servers’ environment and storage infrastructure. - VMware Certified with the VCTA “VMware Certified Technical Associate – Data Center”. - Extensive knowledge of Virtualization Technologies in General, not only limited to VMware Products. - Extensive knowledge of High Available Environments running on Virtualized Infrastructure. - Extensive knowledge of Server and Storage Hardware. - Experience working with Hardware provided by Vendors like HP (Hewlett Packard) and Cisco. - Experience with the following Products and Technologies: Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, VMWare vSphere, Unix/Linux, NetApp, Windows file system and directory management, Active Directory, DNS, WINS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SFTP, Security Diagnostics Tools, Domain structures, User authentication, User entitlements, Data Management, Password management, McAfee & CrowdStrike Network Security, Centrify PAM, PowerShell scripting. - Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing and resolving technical (hardware, software) problems. - Strong interpersonal skills, and customer service skills Ability to multitask and perform in a high-paced/high-pressure environment. - Ability to work independently or within a group to solve complex problems. - Available to work after hours and weekends as needed.
