Under close supervision, the Sustainability Enforcement Attorney [Agency Attorney Interne] receives training and practical experience in legal work for , enforcement cases and projects with Sustainability Bureau staff, as well as other units in the agency.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with case management, including research, design of an appropriate legal strategy, case tracking, drafting of pre-trial settlement agreements, and preparing and prosecuting cases at the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH).
- Preparing reports and related analyses on cases and/or enforcement processes.
- Supporting collection of penalties and fines assessed.
- Assisting with the development and advancement of mediated resolutions.
- Working with Sustainability Bureau staff to promote effective enforcement and compliance.
- Conducting legal research and writing legal memoranda.
- Completing special projects and assignments.
- Any other duties as assigned.
REMOTE WORK
This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.
SALARY INFORMATION
Effective 4/18/2025, the salary will be $72,510 due to a collective bargaining increase.

AGENCY ATTORNEY INTERNE - 30086
Graduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections 520.3 or 520.5) or admission to the New York State Bar.
- Excellent writing, legal research, critical thinking and analytical skills. - Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple assignments with minimal supervision. - Experience with Building Code and laws related to sustainable buildings. - Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, West Law, etc.
