The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time Supervising Stock Worker in the Bureau of Fleet Services. Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Mechanics, the successful candidate will: Maintain order and cleanliness of the storeroom area. Distribute stock to sections as required. Supervise loading and unloading of trucks. Maintains all pertinent records concerning department equipment; including repair lists, parts requisitions and inventories. Communicate with Supervisors and co-workers Operate Forklift to move stock. Load and unload trucks. Maintain stock properly marked in an orderly manner Operate current inventory control computer system. Bar code all parts received. Clerical and filing work involved in purchasing and receiving of parts/materials.
Some of the physical activities performed by Supervisors of Stock Workers and environmental conditions experienced are:may be required to independently lift and carry objects weighing up to 70 pounds; may be required to stand up to seven hours per day; may be required, after training, to operate a fork lift, and/or other heavy machinery; may be required to handle chemicals, flammable materials, and other toxic and hazardous substances.
Supervisors of Stock Workers may be required to work various shifts including nights, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Two years of full-time satisfactory experience performing storekeeping activities, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Ability to operate a forklift Valid forklift license Working knowledge of Fleet Focus Basic Computer Skills Knowledge of automotive parts
