The Financial Information Services Agency-Office of Payroll Administration (FISA-OPA) seeks to hire an Administrative Accountant/Supervisor for the five-member Fiduciary Accounting Unit that is responsible for remitting Federal, State and Local payroll withholding taxes to the taxing authorities. The selected candidate will:
- Manage daily activities of the Fiduciary Accounting Unit;
- Calculate and review tax payment packages and apply level 3 approval to documents in FMS (Financial Management System);
- Analyze bank check exceptions, make pay/no pay decisions pertaining to the aforesaid checks;
- Review Trial Balance reconciliations for the various BSAs (Balance Sheet Accounts) on a monthly basis;
- Develop internal procedures on the tax payment, quarterly and annual employment tax filing processes;
- Serve as a liaison between the agency and the Department of Finance Treasury Division, as well as the Office of the Comptroller Bureau of Accountancy regarding tax payment issues;
- Approve remote online deposits processed in house using IDD (Image Direct Deposit) devices and;
- Perform miscellaneous tasks of analytical/accounting nature as assigned by the Directors.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting, auditing, and cost accounting and four years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience, at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity or supervising a staff performing accounting or auditing work; or
2. A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license and at least 18 months of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising a staff performing accounting or auditing work.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel - Experience with FMS, RMDS and CHRMS - Minimum 3 years supervisory experience - Only permanent employees in the Administrative Accountant title (or comparable title) and those who are reachable on the civil service list are eligible to apply
