The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City's children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services. In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families.
The Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) is responsible for oversight and management of secure and non-secure detention services for juveniles (e.g., youth) awaiting disposition in family, criminal, and supreme courts.
The New York City Administration for Children’s Services is seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Custodian at the Crossroads Juvenile Center. Under immediate supervision, the Supervisor of Custodians will be responsible for performing the following duties, but not limited to:
- Supervise and monitor the Institutional Aides, Painters and Contractors and ensure appropriate facility repairs, cleaning, and tasks are completed as needed.
- Provide supervision to custodial staff and contractors.
- Ensure all employees demonstrate competency in the use of all equipment and supplies through coaching and training.
- Ensure 24/7 cleanliness of the facility.
- Inspect and evaluate physical conditions of the facility to determine the type of work required (hallways, walls, ceilings, floors, roof, laundry equipment, vents, trap lines, and youth living units, etc.).
- Lead and coordinate long and short-term maintenance projects.
- Understand complex written and oral instructions.
- Instruct staff in work policies and procedures.
- Create daily assignment schedules for all housekeeping staff.
- Check equipment to ensure that they are in proper working order and ordering additional equipment as necessary.
- Evaluate and document personnel absences and staff performance.
- Prepare reports and inform facility leadership of issues impacting building safety, cleanliness, etc.
- Perform or assist with housekeeping duties as necessary such as cleaning, laundry, grounds maintenance, painting, moving furniture, etc.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $55,450-$62,658.

Two years of full-time satisfactory experience in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings.
