The Teachers’ Retirement System of the City of New York (TRS) is a public pension fund that provides New York City educators with retirement, disability, and death benefits. TRS was established on August 1, 1917 and is one of the largest pension plan sponsors in the United States, with more than $106 billion in assets and over 215,000 active and inactive members, retirees and beneficiaries.

We are seeking a talented and motivated intern to join our Financial Reporting/Banking team this summer. This internship opportunity provides valuable experience in various aspects of financial reporting, analysis, and accounting practices. As an intern, you will work closely with our accounting teams, supporting their day-to-day activities and contributing to the delivery of accurate and timely financial information.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Verify check register historical data with bank records
- Perform entry to the returned check report
- Search purchase dates in the database for historical assets
- Run various verification inquiries in the System
- Perform other accounting reconciliation task on daily basis


Minimum Qualifications

Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a high school student. No student shall be employed for more than 20 hours in any week that school is in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.

- Basic knowledge of Excel - Communication

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
