SUMMARY:
The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
The Parks Unit monitors the expense and capital budget of the Department of Parks and Recreation as well as the expense budget of the Landmark Preservation Commission, including developing cost reduction proposals, reviewing agency fiscal requests, and determining the budgetary impact of programmatic decisions.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The intern will provide assistance with the following:
- Review and authorization of capital projects’ scopes and funding, specifically performed through the Certificate to Proceed (CPs) approval process.
- Capital budget modifications to align with DPR’s planned project registration.
- Expense and grant budget modifications to align with DPR’s planned spending.
- Amendment of detailed spreadsheets regarding the agency’s expenditures by program area.
- Ad hoc requests and special projects as needed.
As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.
Description of Specific Skills Required: - Exceptional organizational, research, and analytical skills. - Strong problem solving, data management, and data analysis skills. - Outstanding written and spoken communications skills. - Experience with MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint is required. - Strong interest in the environment is preferred. REQUIREMENTS: Undergraduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited college or university. Strong analytical, research and communications skills are required. Candidates must have familiarity in MS Word and Excel To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, undergraduate students must be enrolled or accepted into a college or university. Compensation/Duration: Summer Undergraduate Intern $16.50 per hour Internships will run for 10 weeks, from June 3, 2024 to August 9, 2024. The work must be done during the regular workday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – no evenings or weekends.
