SUMMARY:

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.

OMB’s Learning & Development (L&D) Unit is responsible for overseeing the agency’s learning strategy and for ensuring OMB employees get the training, resources, information, and practice they need to do their best work. L&D collaborates with all divisions, task forces, and units within OMB.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

The intern will lead the following project under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgement:

The OMB L&D Intern will directly assist OMB's Chief Learning Officer and Deputy Chief Learning Officer in developing learning solutions and will come away with a sound understanding of how to apply learning best practices in the workplace. All while working for an agency that has a profound impact on the city.

The OMB Summer Learning & Development Intern may:

- Play a pivotal part in analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing crucial learning initiatives – a fantastic opportunity for those seeking hands-on experience in learning and development!
- Directly assist OMB's Chief Learning Officer and Deputy Chief Learning Officer in developing learning solutions and will come away with a sound understanding of how to apply learning best practices in the workplace. All while working for an agency that has a profound impact on the city.
-Manage marketing and communications for program rollouts, including composing, sending out internal communications promoting L&D initiatives, and following up after training sessions.
- Reporting directly to the Chief Learning Officer you'll be immersed in meaningful responsibilities, making a tangible impact on the dynamic L&D projects of a city agency that has a profound impact on the city. Responsibilities:

- Helping design and/or facilitate performance-focused activity-based learning solutions.
- Creating job aids, quick guides, glossaries, and micro-learning videos.
- Helping with project management, marketing, and logistics for L&D initiatives.
- Administering and moderating internal online discussion boards.
- Composing and sending out communications for L&D initiatives including follow ups after training sessions.
- Assisting in conducting needs analyses via surveys and focus groups.
- Coordinating with external training vendors.
-Maintain L&D schedule and provide overall administrative support for the Learning & Development unit.
-Manage registration, logistics, and administrative tasks for L&D events, including the OMB Institute speaker series, coordinating registrations, calendars, room setups, audio/video requirements, materials, and speaker needs.
-Create, prepare, and update marketing materials for OMB learning events.

- Passion for communications, humanities, liberal arts, marketing, visual arts, and/or performing arts.
- Students with a unique blend of creative and analytical skills, eager to contribute meaningfully to public service for the City of New York.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Enjoys collaborating in a team environment.
- Experience with event planning and/or creating marketing materials.
- Excellent writer with experience composing, proofreading, and editing targeted content while incorporating visual elements.
- Proactive with the ability to handle complex tasks and manage small projects independently.


Minimum Qualifications

As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.


Preferred Skills

REQUIREMENTS: Undergraduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited college or university. Candidates should have strong analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills. Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel. To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, undergraduate students must be enrolled or accepted into a college or university. Compensation/Duration: Summer Undergraduate Intern $16.50 per hour Internships will run for 10 weeks, from June 3, 2024 to August 9, 2024. The work must be done during the regular workday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – no evenings or weekends.

Residency Requirement

This is a hybrid position with in-person days located at OMB’s offices at 255 Greenwich Street
