SUMMARY:
The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
The Compliance and Monitoring Unit maintains an understanding of requirements for the Community Development Block Grant. The team monitors, evaluates, and analyzes programs for compliance of the applicable federal regulations. The unit identifies potential areas of risk and works with various City Agencies or Subrecipients to correct or mitigate any concerns.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The intern will lead the following project under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgement:
The intern’s main project would entail complying an internal manual for Invoice Review; they will then present this to the CDBG-EDR team of analysts. Their duties would also include assisting on monitoring, risk assessments and data entry/data cleanup.
As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.
Description of Specific Skills Required: Two specific skills required are communication and writing. REQUIREMENTS: Undergraduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited college or university. Strong analytical, research and communications skills are required. Candidates must have familiarity in MS Word and Excel To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, undergraduate students must be enrolled or accepted into a college or university. Compensation/Duration: Summer Undergraduate Intern $16.50 per hour Internships will run for 10 weeks, from June 3, 2024 to August 9, 2024. The work must be done during the regular workday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – no evenings or weekends.
