Major Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Compliance division, with latitude for independent judgement and initiative, work as a member of the Parks Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Team in the outreach efforts to promote water resource protection, stormwater management, pollution prevention and stewardship efforts to Parks employees, local community groups and other City agencies.
- Prepare informational brochures, educational materials, surveys, questionnaires, and maps related to the team’s role in compliance with Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) regulations.
- Collaborate with Parks Academy to assess and update training programs and, where appropriate, create, implement and run employee training programs.
- Lead event planning efforts including coordination with Parks teams such as the Park Rangers or other City agencies such as the Department of Education (DOE).
- Lead community education and outreach events for the Parks Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) team including coordinating volunteers.
- Engage in public volunteer training.
- Assist team members with collecting data and conducting site inspections for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) assessments.
- Support communications and outreach related to the development, training and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for Pollution Prevention and Good Housekeeping practices.
- Collect, track, analyze and report on data and metrics related to all outreach and education efforts described above.
- Work with the rest of the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) team and Compliance Division on a wide range of tasks to help further the aim of the team and the division.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
1. Experience in water resources planning, environmental compliance, environmental science, natural resources, engineering, design or review of stormwater management practices and/or related fields. 2. Ability to review and interpret engineering plans, technical drawings, specifications, cost estimates and technical reports. 3. Working knowledge of geographic information system (GIS). 4. Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills. 5. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. 6. Valid New York State driver license.
