Ocean Breeze has a 2,500-seat athletic complex that boasts a state-of-the-art indoor track and field amenity, exercise rooms and a food concession. The facility is a premier destination for athletic events, drawing competitors from around the region, nation and the world. Future capital plans include various sport fields and a cross-country running course.
Major Responsibilities
- Under direction of the Park Administrator, with considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment, responsible communications and administrative work for the Athletic Complex.
- Work in conjunction with the Park Administrator to develop promotional activities during events to enhance the participant and spectator experience.
- Maintain and update both the Ocean Breeze and NYC Parks website and social media channels with current interest stories, upcoming events, special features and digital media and event coverage.
- Use innovative and imaginative material to grow social media followings.
- Develop, train, and manage a media team using existing staff and create an internship program for local students.
- Meet with clients and other stakeholders (such as social media influencers). These meetings may involve pitching potential marketing campaigns.
- Work with the Park Administrator to develop the organization’s brand and strategic plan for marketing and events.
- Promote products, services and content over social media, in a way that is consistent with the Agency’s brand and social media strategy.
- Stay up to date on the best practices and emerging trends in social media.
- Collaborate with the NYC Press Office to manage inquiries, advertise events and event coverage.

MOVEMENT IN THE FACE OF CIVIL SERVICE LISTS IS PROHIBITED UNDER CIVIL SERVICE LAW.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management or related field. 2. Knowledge of or interest in advertising strategies, trends and best practices. 3. Excellent writing, presentation, communication analytical and organizational skills. 4. Knowledge of Track & Field or other recreation activities. 5. HTML, website, photography, video editing and graphic design experience. 6. Valid New York State driver’s license.
