The Team You’ll Work With:
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Community Safety is committed to developing policies and implementing programs to address the problems that mental health issues create for the individuals who experience them and the families supporting them, prevent violent incidents before they take place, reduce the incidence of gun violence, and provide critical services to victims of violence by prioritizing tested and compassionate solutions that have been consistently demonstrated to improve safety. The Office of the Deputy Mayor will institute a whole-of-government approach that prioritizes crisis response and evidence-based violence prevention programs. The office oversees interagency coordination and Citywide implementation to operate as effectively as possible and to deliver the sense of safety and security that all New Yorkers deserve.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Special Assistant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the Deputy Mayor’s calendar, including:
o Building a strategic and flexible calendar that is responsive to Deputy Mayor and Administration priorities and emergent needs.
o Designing a system for tracking, triaging, and responding to requests for internal and external meetings, events, and speaking engagements.
- Proactively reviewing the Deputy Mayor’s daily schedule and working with the DMCS team to ensure that the Deputy Mayor has all necessary materials for each meeting and event.
- Leading regular meetings with both staff and the Deputy Mayor to review the upcoming schedule, consider invitations to events, and discuss preparation for meetings.
- Coordinating high-level logistical support and requests between the Deputy Mayor, Community Safety agencies, and the Mayoral scheduling team.
- Managing other administrative functions for the Deputy Mayor, including:
o Coordinating the Deputy Mayor’s travel.
o Ongoing maintenance of contact databases and call lists.
o Coordinating Deputy Mayor's signature on necessary documents.

Special Assistant (MA)-MGRL - 0668A
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 2+ years of experience in administrative work or an area related to the duties.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
