DCAS IT is looking to hire a Software Tester who will utilize his or her own knowledge and experience, along with current industry standard processes, to review, interpret business process needs and build and support applications business automation applications, some of which are critical to citywide services provided by the DCAS. The candidate will be working on various systems within IT which is developed under multiple platforms. The selected candidate will have to test the application being developed to confirm that it satisfies the business requirements and other policy compliances.
The person hired into this position will be taking over responsibilities, which were to work as a software testing member of the DCAS IT team, supporting critical systems.
This position requires extensive experience in functional, integration, system, API, and workflow testing. As and when needed, load and performance testing supposed should be performed. The person hired should have the ability to manage and work on multiple projects that are in different stages of development. Under minimal supervision, this person should be able to resolve issues that are received as support items or found internally. As the final product quality cannot be compromised, at every stage of development and in all environments used during application development, this person should perform and ensure the quality. This person should be able to manage a project that is assigned and should be responsible for the same.
(1) A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester credits in computer science or a related computer field and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time software experience in designing, programming, debugging, maintaining, implementing, and enhancing computer software applications, systems programming, systems analysis and design, data communication software, or database design and programming, including one year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or
(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six (6) years of full-time satisfactory software experience as described in “1" above, including one year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or
(3) A satisfactory combination of education and experience that is equivalent to (1) or (2) above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience in (2) above on the basis that sixty (60) semester credits from an accredited college is equated to one year of experience. A masters degree in computer science or a related computer field may be substituted for one year of the required experience in (1) or (2) above. However, all candidates must have a four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, plus at least one (1) year of satisfactory full-time software experience in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project.
NOTE: In order to have your experience accepted as Project Leader or Major Contributor experience, you must explain in detail how your experience qualifies you as a project leader or as a major contributor. Experience in computer operations, technical support, quality assurance (QA), hardware installation, help desk, or as an end user will not be accepted for meeting the minimum qualification
requirements.
Special Note
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, in addition to the Qualification Requirements stated above, individuals must have one year of satisfactory experience in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project in data administration, database management systems, operating systems, data communications systems, capacity planning, and/or on-line applications programming.
Preferred Skills - Read requirements and create test cases off it - Manage and execute manual tests using DevOps - Conduct positive and negative testing and perform accessibility tests (ADA) for different user types depending on roles and privileges - Should be able to do all levels of testing as required by the application depending on its scope and complexity - Document and manage bugs and issues using DevOps - Work effectively meeting deadlines in an Agile environment - Communicate issues/concerns to the development team, team lead, and project resources - Working under limited supervision, ensure that the system under test meets business requirements - Prepare testing-related reports, if necessary - Working experience as a software tester with experience in all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from business analysis and requirements gathering through implementation / post-implementation support, utilizing Waterfall and Agile methodologies in addition to the minimum qualification requirements is a plus - Analytical skills to describe and design complex business processes. - Ability to understand and address all high-level business requirements - Collaborate with both functional and technical specialists in the Fit/Gap analysis - Participate in facilitation, analysis, and creating prototypes etc. - Assist with post-deployment verification and UAT activities. - Ensure that the solutions and data sources are appropriately integrated and functional - Continuously validate that the solution will satisfy the customer’s requirements - Prior Experience with ADA (Accessibility Testing) and Mobile Testing is a plus - Prior experience in functionality testing and GUI testing is a plus - Knowledge of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Platform is a plus - Should have knowledge of Microsoft Office tools - Proven ability to deliver quality results in a busy and dynamic business-focused environment. - Accuracy and attention to details - Ability to effectively communicate information to individuals and groups - Proficient in using Windows and MS Office applications - Assists in developing user documentation, manuals, and data dictionary. Required Experience - At least 5 - 7 Years of experience as a software tester having experience with items listed in the preferred skills section - At least 3 Years of working knowledge in software tester capacity as part of a team utilizing SCRUM Agile Method - Excellent communication skills
