Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Infrastructure, with latitude for independent judgment, responsibilities for the Senior IT Architect will include, but are not limited to, the following: As a Senior IT Solutions Architect at the New York City Law Department, this individual will play a critical role in shaping the IT landscape for our agency, working closely with staff and our internal teams to design and implement innovative solutions that encompass our IP networks hardware, software, and virtualized components. Candidates' infrastructure design and configuration expertise will ensure our IT environments are efficient, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities: Assume Lead role in the continued design, development, and support of the Law Department's network infrastructure. Assess existing IT infrastructures, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to enhance performance, scalability, and security. Foster collaboration among different areas within the Law Department to understand their IT requirements and design robust, secure, and highly available network solutions. Stay updated on emerging technologies. Perform proof of concept evaluations to determine the feasibility and potential benefits of integrating new solutions. Design, implement, and maintain communication networks, such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and intranets. Performs a prominent role in installing routers, switches, and other hardware and software upgrades essential for the communication networks to function correctly. Implement data protection measures to safeguard critical business data. Create comprehensive documentation for designed solutions, including architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation plans. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Wintel engineers, security specialists, and software developers, to ensure seamless integration of solutions. Manage and lead IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

Preferred Experience: At least (10) years of hands-on solution experience in systems infrastructure designs and deployment. It entails configuring and installing performance monitoring, VOIP, Load Balancers, WiFi, circuit redundancy, and other network-related devices. Excellent team collaboration skills with a commitment to shared team goals. Expert-level understanding of network infrastructure and documentation. Willing to learn fast and adapt quickly to change. The ability to understand, debug, and improve complex environments. Strong knowledge of systems architecture, security risk management, and IT management. Strong communication, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics or related field and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture and/or IT infrastructure systems; or

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and ten years of satisfactory full-time experience related to enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture and/or IT infrastructure systems; or

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
