Major Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Creative Director, with considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment, coordinate and implement Agency signage and facility designs.
- Under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner/Chief Operating Officer for Maintenance and Operations, collaborate with Citywide Services in the execution of the citywide signage program.
- Review and route sign requests in the Agency’s project management system, working closely with sign coordinators and divisions to verify content, sign type, and placement.
- Work within NYC Parks’ brand guidelines to execute production-level design of Agency signage, including regulatory, wayfinding, history, and public art signs.
- Develop original designs and art for interior and exterior environmental graphics, signage and other agency collateral.
- Provide production-ready artwork files to NYC Parks’ in-house sign shop and external vendors.
- Maintain online catalog of sign types and specifications, as well as agency signage design guidelines.
- Conduct site visits to plan and confirm signage and graphics content and placement needs.
- Develop and maintain production schedules, spreadsheets, renderings and installation plans.
- Organize, analyze and format raw data to inform production.
- Assist the marketing team with marketing, brainstorming, and advertising strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

1. Bachelor’s Degree. 2. 5 years of full-time paid experience as a project coordinator or similar role. 3. 1-2 years of paid experience in a supporting graphic design role. 4. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel. 5. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite in a Mac environment. 6. Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills. 7. Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines. 8. Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently. 9. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam, or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
