Candidate will be responsible for monitoring Worker’s Compensation leaves, verifying member's status and utilizing the Payroll Management System (PMS) for confirmation of time balances. The position will be responsible for reviewing cases on the Worker’s Compensation System (WCS) to verify that the correct information is in the system, processing transfers of employees to the Military and Extended Leave Desk and making proper notifications to the Payroll Section. This position requires monitoring of the overpayment and underpayment of members placed in and out of various Worker’s Compensation status’. This position is also required to answer calls and assist members by liaising with the Health Benefits office regarding reinstatement of Health Insurance and assisting with the process of Civilian Worker’s Compensation claims by receiving C'2 packages, making log entries promptly and distributing information to staff.
This position will also prepare and review WC claims summaries (C'11 forms) for the Civilian Sick Leave with Pay Review Board, monitor WC controverted cases and make the appropriate notifications to the commands and timekeepers with the proper adjustments. Additionally, this position will prepare and process restorations of time and WC occurrences approved by the Law Department for members of the NYPD.
ELIGIBILITY TO BE PROMOTED: In order to be eligible for promotion, you must have completed your probationary period in the eligible title as indicated in the above "Eligibility To Take Examination" section, and you must be permanently employed in the eligible title or your name must appear on a Preferred List for the eligible title at the time of promotion. Additionally, you must have served permanently in the eligible title for at least one year.
Candidates should possess strong leadership skills, have knowledge of basic computer programs, strong written and verbal skills, excellent interpersonal, customer service skills, a strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail, strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills, the ability to work effectively with peers and staff in a team environment, the ability to demonstrate flexibility in adapting to a wide variety of tasks and functions, and the ability to adapt to change.
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the city for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
