This position requires working across the three main offices of the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC). The DDC, Operations Division, is seeking a Senior Facilities Assistant to support the maintenance and daily operations of agency facilities.
The selected candidate will assist in maintaining building systems and equipment and perform minor repairs, including painting, plastering, and installing fixtures, as well as other related tasks. Responsibilities also include assisting with the relocation of furniture and office equipment and preparing agency spaces and conference rooms for meetings and special events. The candidate will be expected to maintain accurate work records and conduct routine inspections of DDC facilities to ensure all areas are in good working condition.
In addition, the Senior Facilities Assistant will manage and restock pantry supplies and ensure copier paper is consistently replenished at all shared copiers. The role requires maintaining detailed inventory records for supplies and furniture and promptly reporting any maintenance or repair issues to the Facilities Manager. This position also involves traveling to off-site locations and other DDC offices to ensure facilities are properly maintained and free of issues. A valid driver’s license is required for this role.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
Preferred Skills
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform basic maintenance tasks effectively. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential. Prior experience in facilities support or a related field is preferred.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
