Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner as part of the Public Safety and Emergency Management division, the Senior Director for Public Safety Facilities and Critical Systems will be responsible for the following:
- Manage mission critical and life-safety facilities supporting New York City 911, 311, citywide data centers and emergency communication facilities;
- Manage facility operations, strategic planning, construction, renovation, infrastructure enhancements;
- Manage a team responsible for planning and overseeing preventative maintenance, facility services, infrastructure operation and upgrades to critical systems supporting life-safety
technologies, including power systems (UPS, PDU, Generators), HVAC;
- Manage facility and infrastructure maintenance and testing cycles;
- Manage vendors, supporting building services, infrastructure, and systems; and facility related budgets, capital and expense planning;
- Support a portfolio of existing sites under construction or in operations to facilitate on time and quality delivery and development of the site that meets permit and agreement requirements and
local expectations;
- Track and monitor ongoing site development including agreement management; assess site risks and opportunities by compiling and/or analyzing site information, including permitting and land
use requirements and legal, physical risk and financial implications;
- Take the lead in creating scalable processes to track progress and risks at sites, schedule daily visits to sites to assist vendors with all work pertaining to maintenance work and upgrades at
the sites;
- Interface with site managers; approve and provide site access to vendors; report and assist in resolving all site issues; provide historical site data collected, report creation, proper next steps
leading to resolution in problem scenarios;
- Attend regular meeting with vendors to discuss site maintenance; assist in project and operations related work as needed, assist with Field Deployments, manage all aspects environmental
conditions, monitoring, environmental systems, shelters, HVAC and other critical work which serves first responder communications;
- Ensure SLA's are being monitored and all necessary reports and analysis are being completed;
- Manage special projects and initiatives as assigned.
HOURS/SHIFT
Day - Due to the necessary technical management duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to be on call and/or work various shifts such as weekends and/or evenings.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area, and four years of satisfactory fulltime experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, or administrative duties in a voice and/or data telecommunications or closely related electronics planning, management, and/or service organization, one year of which must have been in a highly specialized capacity and 18 months must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity or in the supervision of staff performing work in the voice and/or data telecommunications field; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent, scientific, technical, electronic or related area and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of the specialized experience as described in "1" above and must possess the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.
The successful candidate should have the following experience and expert knowledge: - 5+ years of site development, project management experience including in-depth knowledge of public safety facilities management, building operations and maintenance. - Thorough understanding of safety regulations, building codes and compliance requirements related to public safety facilities. - Experience in developing and implementing safety protocols and emergency response plans. - Expertise in managing critical systems such as communications infrastructure, emergency response and security systems. - Ability to manage and coordinate responses to emergencies and critical incidents affecting public safety facilities and systems. - Ability to lead and manage large, diverse teams effectively. - Experience in securing funding and managing contracts with vendors and service providers. - Excellent written and verbal communications skills ability to work independently as well as managing multiple projects and coordinating with internal staff and external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders. - Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management. - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel. - Supply Chain Management experience. - Property management i.e. interfacing with Landlords. - Valid NYS Drivers License.
