We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Director of Enterprise Data Management to lead our Storage, Database, and Backup Services teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment in the Infrastructure Management Division under the City of New York Office of Technology and Innovation organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing and optimizing storage, database, and backup infrastructure for large-scale enterprise environments. They will also have a deep understanding of cloud technologies and the ability to leverage these technologies to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions.

The successful candidate will serve as a Senior Director of Enterprise Data Management, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Enterprise System Services in the Infrastructure Management Division. The Senior Director will directly supervise staff, overseeing the functions, continuous engineering, and operations of the Data management group. The Senior Director is expected to respond to outage calls as needed to provide oversight until resolution; ensure that support tickets, user requests, architectural reviews and audits are meeting Service Level Agreement (SLA) for all services under the Data Management group. This position is part of 24/7 service availability.

Responsibilities will include:
- Serve as a major contributor to the development and success of IM strategic initiatives under OTI organizational strategic initiatives as applicable to Data Management group;
- Ensure that the Data Management group understands the declared IM strategic initiatives;
- Perform verification to ensure that sufficient resources are assigned from Data Management group to IM strategic initiatives;
- Validate that all projects are being tracked with updated information in the organizations system of record for project tracking. Making certain that projects are running on schedule and that they meet committed completion dates;
- Perform monthly reviews of Data Management group assignments related to incidents and opened requests;
- Ensure security vulnerabilities are handled in accordance with cyber command directives pertaining to Data Management group;
- Assist with the planning of long-term support for Data Management systems and platforms to ensure they run on fully supported Hardware and Software;
- Solidify products and services for all requisition submissions of assigned Groups;
- Review and sign-off on all assigned Data Management group procurements;
- Direct and coordinate Data Management group priorities and dependencies, ensuring awareness and cross collaboration with other teams on active projects;
- Analyze and resolve quality of service problems related to Data Management group;
- Produce qualitative and meaningful weekly reports on projects of Data Management group initiatives;
- Identify industry IT trends and recommendations of systems and process improvements for Data Management group;
- Develop reliable performance metrics to measure Data Management group performance and productivity;
- Assure close synergy between engineering and operational teams under Data Management group;
- Keep track of consultant and contactor performance and complete yearly vendor rating report;
- Act as a first responder to wide-range and significant outage notifications (active contributor on the call);
- Contact Upper Management to report on significant system outages under area of responsibility;
- Perform sign-off on Root Cause Analysis for incidents and take the responsibility to implement permanent fix;
- Oversee special projects and initiatives as assigned.

HOURS/SHIFT
Day - Due to the necessary technical management duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to be on call and/or work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area, and four years of satisfactory fulltime experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, or administrative duties in a voice and/or data telecommunications or closely related electronics planning, management, and/or service organization, one year of which must have been in a highly specialized capacity and 18 months must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity or in the supervision of staff performing work in the voice and/or data telecommunications field; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent, scientific, technical, electronic or related area and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of the specialized experience as described in "1" above and must possess the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.

The preferred candidate should possess the following: - 5+ years of experience in IT management, with a focus on backup, database, and storage services delivery and vulnerability management - Experience with technologies such as NAS/SAN/ S3, SQL/ Oracle databases, Commvault data protection suite - Experience with IT service management (ITSM) tools and technologies, such as ServiceNow - Experience with incident management, problem management, change management, and release management processes - Experience with IT security best practices, such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework or ISO/IEC 27001 - Experience with IT system monitoring and performance analysis tools and technologies - Experience with automation tools and technologies, such as Ansible, Terraform, or Chef - Experience with hybrid cloud management platforms, such as VMware vRealize Suite - Experience with containerization technologies, such as Kubernetes - Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
