The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country with a mission of combating municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government, City agencies, and City employees, vendors with City contracts, individuals and entities that receive City funds.
The Department of Investigation is seeking a full-time Senior Digital Forensic Analyst. The selected candidate will be expected to support a range of confidential investigations by retrieving, reviewing and examining digital evidence from electronic devices such as laptops, desktop computers, servers, mobile devices, tablets and CCTV systems. In addition, the candidate will also be expected to establish and preserve the chain of custody of digital evidence, logging and securing property, assisting with computer related search warrants, and participating with a team of investigators and/ or consultants to complete investigation activity. The candidate will also be expected to assist with establishing the agency's Cyber initiative.

1.A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognizedaccrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in an industrial or governmental agency in the fieldof investigation, auditing, law enforcement, security, inspections, or in a major operational area of the agency in which theappointment is to be made; or
2.A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or
3.Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
1. Baccalaureate degree (preferably in Forensic Computing, Computer Science, Computer Security or similar field) from an accredited college. 2. At least two (2) years' experience in a digital forensics field, cyber security or two years of equivalent study in forensic computing. 3. CCE, CFCE, EnCE, GCFA, GCFE, SCERS, COMPTIA, CHFI, CEH, GBFA or comparable certifications 4. Experience with forensic tools, such as EnCase, X-Ways, Axiom, FTK, and Cellebrite [Physical Analyzer, UFED 4PC,]. 5. Experience conducting forensic imaging and examinations of computer systems, digital media, network devices, and mobile devices. 6. Ability to analyze and forensically preserve information from social networking profiles and websites. 7. Strong understanding of operating systems such as Windows, MacOS, Linux and UNIX. 8. Strong understanding of ESI hardware such as laptops, desktops, servers, mobile devices and tablets. 9. Able to dissemble, configure, and troubleshoot various computer hardware. 10. Experience working with network operations, and protocols to plan and carry out complex assignments and develop new methods, approaches, and procedures in computer forensics 11. Knowledge of digital forensic and cyber investigation methodologies, techniques, and best practices. 12. Experience with OSINT and deep/darkweb investigations. 13. Experience in planning and conducting covert undercover technical operations knowledge and understanding of all State and Federal laws pertaining to technical, electronic, audio, video surveillance, eavesdropping and wiretapping. 14. Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy. 15. Strong communication skills and an ability to testify to findings in Grand Jury and Trial proceedings. 16. Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and coordinate large number of separate digital investigations. 17. Experience conceiving and identifying innovative new approaches and new concepts, guides, and methodologies to solve unprecedented problems, and then training peers to perform the same procedure.
