Partnerships for Parks (PfP) is a joint program of NYC Parks and City Parks Foundation (CPF). PfP supports and champions a growing network of leaders caring and advocating for neighborhood parks and green spaces. We equip people, organizations and government with the skills and tools they need to transform these spaces into dynamic community assets.

Major Responsibilities

- Under general direction, with wide latitude for independent initiatives and judgment, Lead PfP interprogram and interagency coordination under the direction of the Community Engagement Program Directors.
- Works closely with Community Engagement Program Directors to ensure deliverables are met, bring ideas and troubleshoot.
- Set goals and priorities related to borough-wide community involvement in NYC Parks’ properties.
- Serve as lead borough contact for community engagement strategies around agency initiatives.
- Lead the Community Engagement Coordinator team in an assigned borough and help ensure timely attention to all requests and projects.
- Produce reports for NYC Parks, CPF, and PfP regarding community involvement.
- Takes the lead to ensure team maintains online database records and assist team members as needed.
- Facilitate the sharing of best practices between staff, provide guidance to new team members and lead regular team meetings.
- Manage supply inventories and distribution plans for borough volunteer tool storehouses.
- Establish and maintain contact with individuals and community groups committed to parks in assigned districts.
- Lead the organizational development of park groups by providing technical assistance and resources.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

1. Bachelor’s degree. 2. Interest or background in community organizing, landscape management, environmental issues, urban planning or city government. 3. Ability to work with diverse constituencies, both internal and external to Parks and CPF. 4. Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills. 5. Ability to work independently and initiate projects. 6. Valid New York State driver license. 7. Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel. 8. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed. 9. Multi-lingual a plus.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
