Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior AWS Engineer who will be responsible for architecting, securing, and optimizing the organization’s AWS infrastructure to support Aspen2.0 and enterprise workloads. The engineer will design scalable and cost-effective cloud environments using services like EC2, RDS, EKS, and S3, and will implement Infrastructure as Code through Terraform or CloudFormation. The role ensures strong governance, security, and compliance across multi-environment deployments, while enabling automation, monitoring, and disaster recovery. The engineer will also collaborate closely with development teams to align AWS and Mendix architectures, enhancing system reliability, performance, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Management:
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Textract, Bedrock, MSK, VPC, etc.).
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline to automate deployments and improve the delivery process.

Kubernetes and Container Management:
- Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters, including deployment, scaling, and monitoring of applications.
- Implement and maintain containerization strategies using Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes for microservices architectures.
- Troubleshoot Kubernetes-related issues related to performance, scalability, and security.

Monitoring and Optimization:
- Configure robust monitoring and logging systems using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana and Site24x7
- Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimization and cost reduction.

Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth software delivery pipelines and production environments.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise for AWS, Kubernetes, and Windows Server related issues.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support the production environment.

Minimum Qualifications


Professional/Vendor Certification, Education and Experience Requirements: You must have current professional/vendor certifications.
In addition, you must have one of the following:
1. A masters degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional, or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) AND 12 months of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) specialized experience in computer applications development planning, design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management as described in the following nine Major Task Groups in the IT Titles Task Inventory*: Applications Development; Web Development, Design, and Maintenance; Business/Systems Analysis; Project Management Support; Application Design; GIS Structures, Spatial Analysis, and Mapping Principles; Testing; Technical Writing; and Version Control; OR
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional, or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) AND 24 months of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) specialized experience as described in “1” above; OR
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization AND 24 months of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) specialized experience as described in “1” above plus 48 months of information technology experience as described in the IT Task Inventory *; OR
4. A satisfactory combination of education and experience which is equivalent to “3” above. Education may be substituted for the information technology experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional, or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is equivalent to 12 months of experience, up to a maximum of 48 months. However, if you qualify under options “2,” “3” or “4,” you must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and at least 24 months of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) specialized information technology experience as described in “1” above.


Preferred Skills


Preferred Skills in Addition to Minimum Qualifications - 7+ years of experience with Hybrid Cloud Environments: Experience in managing hybrid environments that include both AWS and Azure resources. - AWS Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, RDS, etc.) and AWS management tools. - Kubernetes: Extensive experience administering Kubernetes clusters, deploying containerized applications, and troubleshooting Kubernetes-based systems. - Automation & IaC: Experience with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar for automating cloud infrastructure provisioning and management. - CI/CD Pipelines: Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline. - Security Best Practices: Strong knowledge of cloud security principles and the ability to implement secure configurations for both cloud and on-premise environments. - Scripting and Programming: Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell). - Monitoring & Logging Tools: Experience with monitoring solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or AWS CloudWatch. - Networking: Strong understanding of networking concepts such as VPCs, subnets, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and DNS. - Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve system issues. - Container Orchestration: Experience with Helm charts, Helm deployment, and advanced Kubernetes networking features. - Certifications: Strongly preferred AWS Solution Architect certification or equivalent.
