The Facilities and Logistics Division (F&L) is responsible for providing both direct and indirect maintenance and repair services to City owned and operated facilities using in-house skilled trade-workers, maintenance contracts and purchasing operation. F&L is responsible for monitoring DHS shelters as it relates to the maintenance of building systems. The F&L guides shelter staff on ways to improve facility conditions and to ensure funds are being spent on preventive and general maintenance to avoid premature failure of building systems.
The Department of Homeless Services is recruiting for one (1) Administrative Architect M-2 to function as a Senior Architect, who will:

- Oversee architectural work of high difficulty and responsibility; consult on highly specialized architectural matters.

- Perform physical assessments of DHS city-owned buildings; conduct field inspections to identify structural issues and recommend appropriate action.

- Conduct research, investigations or examinations on extremely complex architectural DHS projects of DHS Operations.

- Manage architect team workload and prepare detailed reports outlining project status and flagging potential issues.

- Oversee the preparation of reviews, reports or proposals of complex nature, including drawings, maps, plans and interpretive detail sketches or layouts.

- Coordinate multiple projects of great technical complexity with major potential impact on DHS architectural operations.

- Prepare specifications, estimates of quantities of materials required and cost estimates for architectural projects.

- Review drawings, prepare analysis of the spatial organization and efficient utilization of sites and structures.

- Sign and seal architectural and other official documents.

- Collaborate with Facilities and Logistics staff, including Capital unit, for the purposes of long-term capital planning.


Minimum Qualifications

A valid New York State Registration as an Architect is required. In addition, candidates must have six ( 6 ) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect.


Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of Revit. - Highly Proficient in AutoCAD. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to meet project deadlines in a fast pace evolving environment. - Project management experience. - Familiarity with NY City Building Code. - Ability to handle multiple competing priorities. - Strong strategic problem-solving skills.
