The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Project Controls seeks a Senior Analyst (Project Controls). Under supervision, with some latitude for independent judgment and action, the selected candidates will serve as a data analytics technical lead and perform applied research and identify opportunities to track and improve schedule and cost performance, partner with and elicit information from technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business use cases into analytical frameworks, serve as an expert in translating complex analytical processes into simple and compelling visualizations, reports, presentations, and actionable recommendations accessible to a wide variety of audiences. Responsibilities may also include, identifying drivers of project performance; uncovering correlations between project data; analyzing variance between plan and actual progress in cost and schedule; analyzing project management reports and performance metrics, and supporting the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The selected candidate may be required to prepare information requests on an ad-hoc basis using graphs, pivot tables, queries, reports, narratives, and spreadsheets.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects; or
2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in “1” above; or
3. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of the experience and/or college education as described in “1” above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. One year of credit will be given for each 30 semester credits of college education leading to a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong grasp of project controls concepts and risk management the ability to independently facilitate workshops the ability to work collaboratively with a team excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical skills experience with schedule and cost controls tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) familiarity with risk management tools (e.g. Acumen Risk, Oracle Primavera Risk Analysis) knowledge of quantitative Risk Analysis and experience in conducting schedule delay analysis as well as data analysis techniques or process improvement.
