The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the City agency responsible for oversight of the for-hire vehicle industries in New York City, including the drivers and owners of yellow medallion taxis, green Boro Taxis, community car services, black cars (include those booked via smartphone app), certain luxury limousines, commuter vans, and paratransit vehicles. These industries serve more than 1,000,000 passengers each day and are a key component of the city’s transportation network Through functions such as driver background checks, vehicle inspections, and driver education, TLC’s role is to promote the highest standards of safety and consumer protection in the industries we regulate.
TLC is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to help the Agency continue its work to develop a modern, innovative approach to the licensing process with the key goals of (1) providing excellent customer service to our clients, and (2) improving the efficiency of our internal operations. We are actively seeking technological changes and enhancements to modernize our processes, and as a Senior Agent within the Licensing and Standards Division, the selected candidate will be a key part of that change.
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Vehicle Licensing, with limited latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the successful applicant will perform responsible work in the implementation, coordination, monitoring and execution of Vehicle Licensing Services.
Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, generating, setting up, and saving reports from Power BI and NAU to distribute daily work assignments to staff, as well as actively monitoring FHV transfer emails and assigning work throughout the day; reviewing the FHV Corporation inbox to assign emails directly to staff or forward them to the FHV Transfer inbox and reviewing and responding to Vehicle Intake emails originating from the Call Center and Correspondence Unit; administrative responsibilities will include sending out the daily Vehicle Unit Update and Daily Staff Work Assignment reports, along with running and processing the Multi-VIN report; responding to general inquiries from Vehicle Unit staff and agency teams, assisting with staff development by training new employees and training current staff on new and updated processes, and serving as a liaison by reporting system-related issues to supervisors and IT, as well as staff-related issues to supervisors.

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
The ideal candidate should possess experience working within a large operation, a strong customer service background preferably with diverse populations demonstrated ability to use technology to enhance processes familiarity with current TLC systems, applications, and databases is essential the candidate should have experience working with staff performing comparable back-office and customer service functions, ideally within local government, and must demonstrate strong interpersonal and teamwork skills ability to adapt to a fluid work environment with changing needs and priorities is critical and experience supporting re-engineering or innovation initiatives strong analytical abilities effective and persuasive oral and written communication skills, and proficiency with computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access are required. Preference will be given to qualified internal candidates.
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
