The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation's largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $3.3 billion and over 11,000 employees who manage and maintain 311 developments that house about 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country's largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to about 200,000 additional people. Reporting to the Director for Lead Hazard Control Department in the Healthy Homes, the primary responsibility of the Senior Advisor will respond to all special requests, court cases and COO requests about status of lead related work orders. The Senior Advisor portfolio will also focus on high visibility lead projects, initiatives, and policy proposals to address critical needs for the Housing Authority's lead portfolio.
The responsibilities of the Senior Advisor will include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Liaison with various stakeholder regarding court-cases, special requests and COO requests.
2. Ensure timely completion of work by report status to the Director.
3. Coordinate with various entities to coordinate site visits, performing work and follow through till completion.
4. Identify and support key operational and project management processes and systems to enhance the effective coordination and collaboration among the Lead Hazard Control leadership team
and staff.
5. Review data and information from vendors and field to ensure and investigate discrepancies.
6. Obtain feedback from the field, analyze the business process for performing the work and make recommendations for improvement.
7. Cultivate relationships with other NYCHA departments and vendor to advance the goals of LHCD.
8. Perform general administrative tasks to support the Analytics and Process Change team.
9. Escalate issues to the Director on progress and help solve recurring problems that occur.

1. Due to the existence of a civil service list, candidates must have civil service status in the title of Housing Development Specialist to be considered.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of full-time, satisfactory professional experience in planning, analysis, coordination and/or development of housing projects or programs; or
2. Graduate study from an accredited college or university in the field of urban studies, city planning, real estate development, public administration, public policy, finance, community organization, architecture, or urban design, may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience on the basis of 30 credits for one year.
However, all candidates must have at least a baccalaureate degree and one year of the experience described in "1" above.
1. Familiarity with any of the following: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio, Smartsheet, Maximo and Oracle. 2. Basic knowledge of building maintenance, mold assessment and remediation. 3. Previous experience in engaging with contractors 4. At least 2 years of work experience related to housing, business, consulting, real estate, human resources, law and/or public policy.
