Job Description
The Senior Advisor for the Public Safety and Emergency Management division is the primary resource reporting to the Deputy Commissioner for Public Safety, tasked with streamlining strategic initiatives, and overseeing executive programs, including critical responses supporting Public Safety. The Senior Advisor is the lead in communicating objectives to units within the division as well as external stakeholders within the Public Safety and PSAC community.
Responsibilities will include:
- Serve as the primary liaison for Public Safety executives, senior leaders, and agency stakeholders;
- Collaborate with the Deputy Commissioner for Public Safety on priority initiatives, critical responses and unit assignments;
- Coordinate with Public Safety Management and Budget on division resource plans and objectives;
- Provide oversight of executive level special projects;
- Coordinate with Public Safety unit executives on key objectives and strategic planning;
- Generate correspondence, memos and policies on behalf of the division and Deputy Commissioner;
- Research and draft position documents on complex Public Safety solutions and operations;
- Assist the Deputy Commissioner with developing and build on relationships within the Public Safety community for increased efficiency and responsiveness of existing operations;
- Collaborate with executives on special projects and operational strategies for Public Safety programs;
- Assist the Deputy Commissioner with handling inquiries, developing action plans, and assisting with preparation and dissemination of communications;
- Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
HOURS/SHIFT
Day - Due to the necessary technical support duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

The successful candidate should possess the following: - 15+ years experience working in a mission-critical Public Safety environment - 8+ years experience in senior management role responsible for organizing and managing multiple teams and departments - 8+ years management experience in a PSAP or Emergency Communications Center - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to draft executive level correspondence, documents, presentations and reports - Versatile abilities to handle complex life-safety matters across a multiple agency stakeholder community - Extensive experience with managing complex mission-critical projects and/or operations - Strong ability to expand area of expertise to support a continuously maturing business model based upon operational needs.
