The Office of the First Deputy Mayor is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Senior Advisor to the Deputy Mayor to help drive work in the areas of criminal justice, community partnerships, and organizational capacity building. This individual will help oversee priority initiatives across the agencies and offices, make recommendations, and develop action plans for meeting objectives. The Senior Advisor will serve as a liaison to reporting departments, community organizations, the business community, and other public and private agencies and will have a particular focus on upstream causes of gun violence. Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Work directly with the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice and other agencies working in this area to
ensure a holistic approach to criminal justice;

- Lead and/or support other key initiatives that are priorities for the administration;

- Work with Directors, Commissioners, and department staff to design and implement short- and
long-term priorities;

- Assure that projects are consistent with City policy and that the City’s limited resources are
deployed appropriately;

- Provide ongoing leadership and project management, and oversee progress on implementation;

- Drive policy priorities through government and legislative process.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR SKILLS

- Excellent communication, writing, research, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, time-management
and multi-tasking skills, including the ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, pay close attention to
detail, prioritize tasks, work independently and under pressure to meet specific deadlines;

- Experience leading and managing multiple complex projects in a fast-paced setting;

- Skilled in building strong coalitions and engaging a wide range of stakeholders;

- A flexible and creative approach to making plans, using resources and solving problems;

- Knowledgeable about New York City’s diverse communities;

- Results-driven and self-motivated.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of full-time, satisfactory professional, technical, or administrative
experience in one or more of the following fields: program evaluation, contract negotiations/management, business, or public administration,
contract community relations, or related fields; at least eighteen months must have been in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity,
or supervising professional personnel performing work in program evaluation, contract negotiation/management, business or public
administration; or
2. A four-year high school diploma, or its equivalent, and six years of full-time, professional, technical, or administrative work experience in one
or more of the fields cited above; at least eighteen months must have been in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity, or supervising
professional personnel as described in "1" above; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience as cited above. However, all candidates must have the eighteen months of
administrative, managerial, or executive experience or experience supervising professional personnel as described in "1" above.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
