The Team You’ll Work With:
The Office of Intergovernmental Affairs coordinates the City's interaction with the City, State, and Federal Legislative Affairs Offices, as well as the offices of the City Comptroller, Public Advocate, and Borough Presidents. The office keeps the Mayor and the First Deputy Mayor informed about intergovernmental issues and is the liaison between the City and other governments, seeking to foster constructive links between the Administration and these entities.

The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Senior Advisors will report to the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and work across IGA’s legislative units to serve as lead organizers on key Mayoral initiatives and priorities. Duties of the Senior Advisor include, but are not limited to:

- Intergovernmental Liaison – serve as a liaison between City, State, and Federal elected officials, IGA Legislative Units, IGA Senior Advisors, and relevant Mayoral agencies and offices, to oversee projects, and develop and implement strategic outreach to elected officials and advocates in furtherance of Mayoral goals.
- Interagency Coordination – coordinate with agencies, boards, commissions, organizations, and institutions relevant to Administration goals and policy initiatives, meet project goals and timelines, and review agency and interagency work product.
- General Support – as needed, provide administrative support and coordination, including preparation of correspondence and briefing memoranda, background research, and information for the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.

About You:
- You can support and provide high-level support and advice to build and maintain effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- You can become adept at tracking City legislation and monitoring its progress as it moves through the legislative process.
- You have demonstrated the ability to work with IGA, Administration officials, and City agencies in reviewing and preparing legislation.
- You can write analyses of legislation, including but not limited to public memos in support or opposition.
- You can handle special projects as identified by City Hall Executive Leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 7+ years of experience.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
