The Team You’ll Work With:
The Office of the First Deputy ensures that City government runs efficiently and focuses on many of the administration’s top priorities – from creating opportunities for young people to strengthening the city’s civic infrastructure – the office works in partnership with stakeholders inside and outside of city government to develop, scale, coordinate, and deliver policies, plans and operations in an equitable and sustainable way.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Office of the First Deputy Mayor is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Senior Advisor for Fast and Free Buses. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for the coordination, implementation, and successful completion of any projects related to the Fast and Free Buses. The Senior Advisor will have latitude to exercise a wide degree of authority in performing this role and is expected to exercise judgment to make timely and appropriate decisions.
The Senior Advisor will track and monitor progress on key performance indicators in support of project goals; anticipate, identify, and quickly solve any implementation roadblocks; and coordinate and facilitate convenings with internal and external project stakeholders.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Develop the administration's strategy for the fast and free bus campaign by building a coalition of supporters, coordinating across teams and agencies, and ensuring related projects are moving forward.
- Lead and run regular meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Closely track and report on progress and key performance deliverables as it relates to the administration's goals and priorities around fast and free buses.
About You:
- You have excellent communication, writing, research, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, time-management, and multi-tasking skills, including the ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, pay close attention to detail, prioritize tasks, work independently, and work under pressure to meet specific deadlines.
- You have experience in mediating among groups with competing perspectives, overseeing and improving the operational efficiency of complicated organizations, and pioneering innovative solutions to intricate problems.
- You have the ability to think creatively and a willingness to consider new approaches.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 10+ years of experience.

1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?
2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?
3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?
4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?
- You have experience convening and bringing together internal and external stakeholders as it relates to project priorities. - You can work both independently and alongside a team. - You can brief and manage upwards to principals and senior leadership as it relates to project priorities.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
