About New York City Cyber Command
Cyber Command is charged with protecting all city systems against cyber threats, including systems that deliver vital services to New Yorkers. Headed by the Chief Information Security Officer of the City of New York, we provide in-depth support to over 100 agencies and offices to protect, detect, identify, respond to, and recover from cyber threats.

Job Description
Email Security Engineers, working within the Cybersecurity Engineering group, are responsible for making sure that email and related network security technologies are designed, integrated, tested, and configured to meet the objectives of OTI / Cyber Commands defensive efforts. Email Security Engineers are responsible for the design and implementation of email filtering, DNS, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, sandboxing and related technologies including cloud-based email threat prevention platforms and related procedures and policies across City Agencies.

Email Security Engineers work closely with private sector partners and City Agencies to ensure the efficacy of OTI / Cyber Command defense technologies. They seek to bring together business owners, incident responders, and other members of the Security Sciences team to creatively solve complex business/technical challenges with engineering solutions. They are proficient in the use of automation tools, configuration management solutions, DevOps principles, and data analytics.

Responsibilities will include:
- Develop and maintain our data pipeline using Apache Beam, Java, Python and other data processing technologies;
- Identify and implement performance improvements across all pipelines;
- Engage with data consumers and producers in order to design appropriate models to suit all needs;
- Maintain information exchanges through publish, subscribe, and alert functions that enable users to send and receive critical information as required;
- Support incident management, service-level management, change management, release management, continuity management, and availability management for databases and data management systems;
- Administer databases and/or data management systems that allow for the secure storage, query, protection, and utilization of data.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or,

Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

- 6+ years’ experience in large enterprise environments - Strong understanding of email delivery architecture, email gateway and DNS technologies - Strong understanding of networking, SMTP, DNS - Experience with email security solutions in large, distributed environments - Experience working with email threat prevention platforms in complex email delivery systems - Experience with sandbox technologies and platforms - In depth knowledge of DMARC, DKIM, and SPF - Cloud architecture and experience - Linux experience with account and group management - In depth knowledge of email messaging systems, system administration in email gateways, either Microsoft Exchange, Proofpoint Email Gateway or similar including in depth knowledge of Exchange 2016 and Microsoft O365 - High Availability Architecture of email delivery systems - Ability to achieve goals with minimal supervision self-starter self-motivated and a capacity to get things done - Dedication to continuous improvement - Good oral and written communication skills - Security and cloud certifications a plus (CISSP, CCSP, Google Compute Platform, AWS, Azure, etc.)
