The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City’s children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services. In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families at risk of a crisis through preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home.

The Administration of Children’s Services Information Security Office (ISO) is an InfoSec team committed to protecting ACS systems that provide vital services to ACS employees from cyber threats, helping them to become safer in their digital lives. A Security Awareness Specialist develops learning and awareness programs to cultivate a culture of cybersecurity within an organization. They educate company personnel and contractors on security threats and how to defend against them. One of the security awareness specialist’s primary responsibilities is to communicate about complex technical issues in layman’s terms. They must ensure that everyone in the company is aware of cyber threats, even employees whose roles do not deal with information technology.

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing the following duties, but not limited to:
- Provide simple, practical, and up-to-date cybersecurity information.
- Empower people to embed security by design into how they perform their jobs.
- Work closely with technology, audit, legal, and other business units to understand security challenges and tailor training to meet business and compliance requirements.
- Incorporate feedback from incidents into updated training and awareness programs.
- Monitor and identify the top human risks to our organization and the behaviors we need to change to mitigate those risks
- Incorporate security awareness network into classroom and virtual learning, including new hire orientation, new manager training, and other events
- Establish a security awareness network with key stakeholders throughout the organization to understand risks and business objectives.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the phishing assessment program.
- Manage relationships with security education and awareness related vendors.
- Work closely with NYC on Security awareness program.
- Work under guidance of Security Awareness Manager in ACS Infosec team Selective Certification for Professional Vendor Certifications.

Minimum Qualifications

Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be filled. In addition, all candidates must have the following:

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network and/or wide area network planning, design, configuration, installation, implementation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or

2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in "1" or

3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that 30 undergraduate semester credits from an accredited college is equivalent to 6 months of experience. A master’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may be substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in "1" above.

Note: In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements: Incumbents may be required to update existing and/or obtain additional professional industry-standard certification(s) for current and future technical environments(s) in which they may be assigned to work, as determined by the employing agency.
