About BWT
The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT) operates and maintains critical wastewater infrastructure across all five boroughs, including 14 Wastewater Resource Recovery Facilities, over 90 pumping systems, combined sewer overflow facilities, and more. BWT is undergoing a digital transformation focused on four pillars: SCADA Support and Development, IT Support and Cybersecurity, Asset Management, and Application Development. This transformation aims to modernize operations and improve resilience, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT) is seeking a Section Chief of IT Support to lead and manage the IT Support team within the division. This role will be responsible for supervising IT operations, managing asset inventories, enforcing IT processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and agency goals. The Section Chief will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of IT services across all BWT facilities.
Key Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Supervise and manage the IT Support team, including assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and fostering professional development.
- Oversee IT Asset Management, ensuring accurate tracking and maintenance of IT hardware and software inventories using ServiceNow or similar platforms.
- Manage and prioritize IT support requests, ensuring all issues are resolved within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Develop, implement, and maintain IT operational dashboards to monitor system performance, team productivity, and compliance.
- Coordinate IT hardware disposal processes, ensuring adherence to NYC DEP and DCAS policies.
- Provide oversight for IT equipment inventory across multiple locations, maintaining data accuracy and timely updates in the ServiceNow CMDB.
- Enforce IT processes and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and agency goals.
- Collaborate with other departments to meet the IT needs of all BWT facilities.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on IT operations, asset inventories, and team performance.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex IT issues, offering guidance and resolution strategies.
IT AUTOMATION AND MONITORING E - 95712
1. A baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering or a related field from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure; or
2. Eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure;
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
- Demonstrated experience in IT Asset Management within a public sector or large-scale organization. - Proven ability to lead a team in a highly regulated environment. - Proficiency in using ServiceNow or similar IT service management platforms. - Strong communication and organizational skills. - Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. ***Additional Requirements*** Driver License Requirement: A valid New York State driver’s license is required and must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
