The Post-Conviction Justice Unit in the New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for a Post-Conviction Justice Unit (PCJU) Secretary. In this position, the Unit Secretary is responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support to the unit.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform secretarial and administrative tasks, as well as complete clerical assignments to support the operations of the Post-Conviction Justice Unit.
- Enter data into the unit’s proprietary Case Management database and compile statistical reports as requested.
- Maintain files, manage email inquiries, copy, and scan.
- Answer the PCJU main line and assist callers.
- Interact with DANY staff in other units, external agencies, and members of the community, including greeting and directing visitors of the unit.
- Maintain shared calendars for the unit and update as necessary.
- Perform related administrative and clerical duties as needed and assigned.
- Perform all assignments in an accurate, professional, and expeditious manner.
In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, all candidates must possess the following:
- Two years’ work experience in an administrative support role.
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to learn in-house proprietary applications.
- Ability to follow directions, work independently, and manage assignments.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up.
- Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with office staff.
- Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus.

- Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current position and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
- Looking for candidates that could commit to one (1) year to the hiring unit.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
