The New York City Housing Authority’s Department of Resident Services, Partnerships & Initiative (RSPI) engages NYCHA residents in critical programs, services, and initiatives in the areas of economic opportunity, youth, senior and social services; supports NYCHA’s extensive network of Resident Associations; and connects residents to opportunities such as financial empowerment, business development, career advancement, and educational programs.

RSPI has set forth a model of engagement that effectively serves residents, as well as internal and external stakeholders to create a comprehensive engagement model that supports residents and NYCHA 2.0, NYCHA’s strategic plan for preservation and advances the work of the agency.

The Resident Outreach for Conversion & Modernization Services Department (ROCMS), one of RPSI’s seven units, engages residents on real estate programs related to new construction, preservation, rehabilitation, and development air rights. Resident Services, Partnerships & Initiatives seeks a self-motivated and committed Community Associate to join its ROCMS team.

Reporting to the Project Manager, responsibilities of the Community Associate include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Provide tactical support to the department to ensure successful stakeholder engagement processes in connection with NYCHA’s real estate preservation and development projects.
2. In coordination with the Senior Community Development Coordinator, execute stakeholder-focused events, coordinate event logistics, attendance tracking, meeting notes, and other tasks.
3. Assist with phone-banking and door knocking and other outreach assignments. Perform data entry tasks in connection with all related activities.
4. Provide administrative support to the unit as appropriate, coordinate meeting schedules and other related tasks.
5. Perform other related duties incidental to the work listed above.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.


Preferred Skills

1. Creative and energetic with strong interpersonal skills. 2. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations. 3. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. 4. Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, and Word. 5. Community organizing and outreach. 6. Bilingual a plus.
