Job Description
The Retirement Processing Unit is responsible for scheduling sessions, preparing the details of a member’s retirement and includes pension calculations, rollovers, post-retirement paperwork, etc. They are the first and last phase of the retirement process before a member separates from service.
Under the direction of the Supervisor(s) of the Retirement Processing Unit, this candidate will be responsible for performing work as described below. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performs moderately difficult data entry and retrieval using Excel, Word and COPS (Comprehensive Officer Pension System);
- Performs responsible clerical and related activities checking and maintaining records, doing searches and updating information when necessary using COPS, multiple computer-based databases and Finest messages;
- Performs various tasks in the processing of prospective retirees and resignations not involving retirement computations or retirement benefits;
- Explains information regarding tier status, retirement eligibility, retirement benefits and final withdrawal information of funds and taxable consequences;
- Answers all calls promptly and courteously utilizing proper format. The information given must be accurate, informative, and concise and referred to the appropriate individuals when necessary;
- Schedule and confirm appointments for members of the service to file for retirement;
- Work on special projects as designated by supervisor of Unit.

Salary: The hiring rate being offered for this position is $43,143. If you possess the preferred skills above, consideration will be given to offer you a maximum annual salary of no more than $45,000. The salary is non-negotiable.

NOTE: This is a full-time on-site position. The incumbent will be required to report to the office on a regular basis.

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
