Job Description

Under Supervision of the Supervisor of Mechanical Installation and Maintenance. the selected candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities but are not limited to:

1. Supervise and oversee work of maintenance crews and welders that repair and maintain 3,200 interior and 329 exterior compactors citywide.
2. Respond to development’s needs - coordination of repair of compactors and/or recycling efforts.
3. Administer contracts for the replacement and repair of interior and exterior compactors citywide.
4. Work in collaboration with NYCHA's Office of Security, NYC Department of Transportation, NYC Department of Sanitation and all NYCHA Management Offices.
5. Monitor Maximo work orders; prepare work schedules and assignments; deploy staff throughout the five boroughs.
6. Maintain inventory supplies; order materials and equipment required for work assignments.
8. Maintain records and prepare reports.
9. Assist with Waste Management Program issues and compliance NYCHA locations.
10. Supervise Assistant Superintendent overseeing SOAs, MVOs for Mechanical Collection, Rear loaders/RPROs
11. The Pneumatic System (Polo Grounds). To act as a liaison between DSNY and NYCHA.

NOTES: Candidate selected must be available to work and travel throughout the five boroughs.

NOTE: The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) administered a civil service exam for the Resident Building Superintendent title on 7/22/2023. Therefore, applicants
(candidates) that did not take and pass the exam will potentially not be considered, likewise applicants not reachable on the established civil service list will potentially be in jeopardy of
being replaced with an eligible civil service candidate.

1. A valid driver's license is required for this position and must be maintained for duration of employment.
2. This position may require after hours and weekend response to emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, plus five years of supervisory experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of large tenanted buildings, three years of which must have been in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees. Higher education may be substituted for up to two years of this experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for each year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least three years of experience in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees.


Preferred Skills

1. Demonstrated knowledge of compactor repair including electrical and hydraulic work. 2. Three to five years of supervisory experience as a Resident Buildings Superintendent including experience in broad waste management issues. 3. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills ability to make presentations. 4. Proficiency in NYCHA's business software (Maximo, Oracle, Kronos) Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel).
