The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
Human Resources Solutions (HRS)/ Recruitment Strategies is recruiting for a Principal Administrative Associate III to function as a Recruiter, who will:
- Initiate the recruitment activities, track, and process pre-selected candidates. Ensure the completion of all requested actions.
- Review requests for recruitment posting to ensure the title being used is correct and relevant; compose and issue all postings both internal and Citywide; review resumes and qualifications to determine suitability of candidates; ensure that the applicant meets minimum qualifications and preferred skills; approve/disapprove questionable applicants for positions; submit/send accepted responses to the HRBP or Hiring Manager.
- Confer with the Director/Deputy Director of Recruitment Strategies and make recommendations on the use of external recruitment resources as recommended by the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) to meet the agency's goal of attracting a more diverse candidate pool.
- Liaise with the HRBP to secure appropriate salary in preparation of making job offers to the candidates; upon making job offers, complete the relevant sections of NYCAPS to ensure that a record is made of the interview, and that the EEO information is properly recorded.
- Facilitate the processing of candidates, by reviewing and submitting the e-hire pack, making sure the candidates receive all necessary documents to complete the processing; review packages for completeness and correction; forward completed package to the scheduling unit for processing and final evaluation.
- Research and respond to HRBP's/Deputy HRBP's concerns, advising them on DCAS rules and regulations as they relate to the hiring process; meet and update the HRBPs and hiring managers on a continuous basis.
- Prepare comprehensive management reports for the Director providing status updates on actions, utilization of civil service titles and positions that have been filled/not filled and evaluating processes to ensure that the Agency objectives and goals on diversity and other employment initiatives are met.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and NYCAPS. - Well organized and detail oriented.
