Job Description

Under general supervision to the Staten Island Director of Operations and Service Manager, the candidate will be responsible for:

- Direct daily operations of the Records Room, ensuring proper organization, maintenance, and cleanliness of files and workspace.
- Process DOB NOW Record requests and inquiries.
- Provide public assistance with record and microfilm requests.
- Maintain and file records and microfilm in accordance with departmental standards.
- Coordinate off-site storage transfers, ensuring secure and accurate handling of files.
- Conduct research using plans, microfilm, and docket books.
- Process legal documents related to FOIL requests, subpoenas, and violation inquiries.
- Operates microfilm-duplicating and scanning equipment to produce copies of departmental records.
- Respond to internal and public inquiries by researching departmental records.
- Support special projects under the direction of the Borough Commissioner, Deputy Borough Commissioner, or Chief Plan Examiner.
- Supervise staff, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure adherence to unit procedures.
- Provide staff training on unit processes and best practices.
- Manage B-scan staff, ensure documents are current, perform quality control through reports, and implement corrective actions as needed.

CIVIL SERVICE STATUS
Only those who are permanent in the Clerical Associate civil service title, applicants who are reachable on the Clerical Associate open competitive list, and applicants as indicated below will be considered.

Candidates who are permanent in comparable civil service titles may be considered for title change under rule 6.1.9 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of New York.

REMOTE WORK
This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
