The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau is looking for a receptionist to assist the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau (CAS), the Crime Victims Assistance Unit (CVAU) and other Bronx DA staff on the 5th floor; greet and receive visitors and answer phone calls.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage reception area:
Sign in all victims, witnesses, members of service (NYPD, EMT, FDNY) for CAS, CVAB, DV, HTU and notifying the appropriate parties.
Keep accurate and complete records of all witnesses in the Bureau Logbook.
Connect visitors with the person they are here to see, following up where necessary.
Ensure all people visiting are seen in a timely manner.
Maintain order and professionalism in the reception area; notify supervisors immediately if there is an issue.
Manage reservations for conference rooms.
Communicate with interpreter staff and assist ADA’s request for interpreter when needed.
Maintain necessary forms at the front desk.
Screen on going calls:
Answer all calls at the front desk and redirect calls to appropriate staff members.
Get accurate information from caller including correct spelling of full name, phone number, reason for calling.
Ensure that all messages get relayed to the recipient as soon as possible.
Serve as back up to answering Bureau Chief and Deputy Bureau Chief’s phone lines.
Perform all other bureau related duties as needed and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree or a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years reception experience in a law firm, government agency, or other professional environment.
Ability to handle multiple challenging assignments simultaneously.
Must be detailed oriented with superior organizational, analytical, writing and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
Ability to resolve conflicts and multitask Strong attention to detail, deadlines, confidentiality, and organization
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Ability to speak and understand Spanish preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with general court services preferred.
Excellent customer service skills
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
