Job Description

New York City Housing Authority is seeking a Reasonable Accommodations (RA) Coordinator to assist with employee requests for reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable laws.

Responsibilities include to the following:

- Data input, review, and processing of employee reasonable accommodation requests for disabilities, religious observance, and other legally protected needs.
- Engage in cooperative dialogue with employees, supervisors, and other stakeholders to determine appropriate accommodations while maintaining job functionality.
- Maintain accurate records and track RA requests using spreadsheets and databases, ensuring timely responses and proper documentation.
- Coordinate with other NYCHA departments, including Human Resources and Law, as well as department supervisors to ensure accommodation decisions align with policy and legal standards.
- Assist with training for NYCHA staff on reasonable accommodation policies and procedures.
- Handle administrative duties related to reasonable accommodations, such as drafting correspondence, preparing reports, and managing case files.

NOTE: This position requires compliance with all applicable workplace policies, including hybrid work schedules where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

- Strong organizational and administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and case management databases. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging in cooperative dialogue with employees and supervisors. - Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. - Experience working in government or public sector HR is a plus. - Experience in handling reasonable accommodation requests, HR compliance issues, and/or related administrative functions. - Knowledge of ADA, Title VII, the NYC Human Rights Law, and EEOC regulations.
