JOB DESCRIPTION:

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York Bureau City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the
problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Equity and Inclusion is responsible for overall organizational development and implementation of the New York City Police Department's Equity and Inclusion programs and strategic framework. The goal of the Office of Equity and Inclusion (0E1) is to foster equity through policy and regulation, both in and out of the workplace, and to increase supplier diversity for the New York City Police Department (NYPD). This is accomplished through transparency and accountability by applying nationwide best practices with our internal and external stakeholders.

Reasonable Accommodation Specialists play a vital role in ensuring that the City of New York provides equal opportunities and accessibility for all members of service. As a Reasonable Accommodation Specialist your tasks will include, but are not limited to: Investigating requests for reasonable accommodations and providing necessary accommodations as outlined by the compliance and standards laws set forth by the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS); Gather, analyze, and interpret data related to reasonable accommodations. Use data to identify trends, track progress, and inform decision-making. Articulate and disseminate decisions made by the office (RAU) in a clear and concise matter. Conduct regular offsite visits and audits to assess and identify areas for improvement. Record and maintain relative and sensitive documentation; including dispositions, conferrals, scanned supporting documents.

HOURS/ SHIFT:
9 AM x 5 PM, Monday-Friday

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loan after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full time for a qualifying employer, such as a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization. You may be able to consolidate a Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) and Federal Perkins Loan into a Direct Loan to qualify for PSLF.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a closely related field, and one year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; or in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; or in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee
benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and three years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the areas described in “1" above.


Preferred Skills

Strong decision making and the ability to think critically and adjust to changing circumstances are essential. Strong writing and research skills and demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate complex policy matters to various audiences. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint specifically).
Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
